The Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Center
(ACRC) was established in 1988 by the National
Science Foundation of the United States as an
Industry-University cooperative research center.
Since its founding, the ACRC has provided a forum
for industry to coordinate and share precompetitive
research on energy-efficient, ozone-safe technologies.
In this partnership with the University of Illinois,
graduate students and faculty conduct advanced
study in acoustics, dynamics, control systems,
design, materials, and the thermal sciences. Research
within the ACRC is conducted as a collaboration
between industry and the university--it is a collaboration
driving innovation.
